A resident of Mumbai recently posted on X about the unusual footpath patterns on Hill Road in Bandra. He posted a picture of how a sewage duct was built in the middle of the footpath. The user highlighted the issues faced by the locals. Mocking the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the user called this construction a “double-decker of footpath.”

This unusual duct pattern was built outside Balajis Restaurant in Bandra. The user posted a few photos of the duct on X and wrote, “Double-Decker Footpaths of Mumbai. This is in front of Balajis Restaurant, Hill Road, Bandra. Thank you myBMC. Thank you for free invitations for innocent citizens, schoolchildren, the elderly, etc to trip and have a nasty fall. Thank you.”

The photograph highlights the dangerous condition by displaying the elevation difference between the road and the walkway as well as the drainage duct's peculiar shape.

The BMC replied to this post on X and wrote, “We regret inconvenience caused to you. We have intimated our team to attend this as soon as possible.”

A user who was explaining the issue said, "I just wanted to ask all of you none of your people have ever walked on a sidewalk, right? That’s the only explanation for this masterpiece of construction. Perhaps corruption and incompetence could also explain it, but hey, you do you!"
