A case of fraud has come to light where fake websites, mobile apps, and WhatsApp groups were created in the name of Sharekhan Limited to deceive investors. In this connection, Deepak Mohanlal Gupta (36), Assistant Vice President in the Legal Department of Sharekhan Limited, has lodged a complaint at Shivaji Park Police Station.

According to the complaint, Gupta has been associated with Sharekhan Limited since 2022. The company, established in 1995, is considered one of the oldest and most trusted firms in the stock broking sector. It is registered with BSE, NSE, and MCX, and operates over 130 branches across the country.

In April 2024, the company received information from its investors regarding a fake website created under the name www.sherkhan-max.com. Additionally, a mobile app named SHAREKHANMAX PLUS-SHAREK-HAN and a WhatsApp group titled F-44-SHAREKHAN CAPITAL GROUP were also found misleading people. The administrators of these groups include Adi Thakur, Manoj Kumar Jain, Vivek Verma, and an individual named Kumar.

These fraudulent websites and apps replicated the company’s logo, design, fonts, registration numbers, names of officials, and contact information. As a result, a large number of investors and common people were deceived.

Upon discovering this fraud, the company promptly informed the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) via email. Additionally, alerts were issued across all social media platforms to caution the public. Despite these efforts, several complaints were received from individuals who invested through these fake platforms.

Sharekhan Limited has taken serious note of this issue and has submitted a formal complaint to the police along with all necessary documentation. The company has demanded legal action against the unidentified culprits.
