In a significant breakthrough, California police have detained Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in connection with the Baba Siddique murder case and the firing incident outside Salman Khan’s residence. Sources from investigative agencies have confirmed Anmol’s detention in California, marking a major development in the ongoing probe.

 

Efforts are now underway by the Indian government and investigative agencies to expedite Anmol's extradition. According to sources, the Ministry of Home Affairs and investigative teams are in contact with U.S. authorities, though the Ministry of External Affairs is yet to confirm the details. Anmol was detained after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him two weeks ago.

 

A few days ago, U.S. authorities informed Mumbai Police about Anmol Bishnoi’s presence in their jurisdiction. Acting swiftly, the Mumbai Crime Branch initiated the process for his extradition, sending a formal request to the U.S. Sources suggest that these efforts are yielding positive results.

 

Anmol Bishnoi is listed as a wanted criminal by Mumbai Police for his alleged involvement in the firing incident outside Salman Khan's Bandra residence. Additionally, his name has surfaced in the investigation of former MLA and minister Baba Siddique's murder. A special court handling cases under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) issued a non-bailable warrant against him two weeks ago.

 

According to Mumbai Crime Branch sources, Anmol Bishnoi was in contact with suspects Shubham Lonkar and Zeeshan Akhtar, who are believed to have carried out the attack under his instructions. During interrogations, arrested suspects revealed Anmol's key role in orchestrating these crimes.

 

Apart from these high-profile cases, Anmol Bishnoi faces 18 other criminal charges, including two registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Recently, the NIA announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his arrest.

 

Anmol followed his brother Lawrence Bishnoi’s footsteps into the world of crime. After being released on bail on October 7, 2021, he fled India using a fake passport. Investigative agencies filed a chargesheet against him in 2023. Anmol frequently changed his hideouts, reportedly being spotted in Kenya last year and in Canada earlier this year.
