Violence broke out between two groups in the Dindoshi area of Goregaon on Sunday night, leaving several people injured. Police acted swiftly after receiving information about the clash and managed to disperse both groups. By midnight, eight individuals were taken into custody in connection with the incident. The altercation reportedly occurred near Santosh Nagar Market during a religious procession. As officers reached the spot, they attempted to bring the situation under control and relied on CCTV footage to identify those involved. To manage the escalating tension, police also carried out a mild lathi charge. Among the injured were three members of Bajrang Dal, who were later admitted to a trauma care hospital in Jogeshwari for treatment.

Following the arrests, authorities discovered that the accused were residing in unauthorised structures in the Santosh Nagar area. Complaints regarding illegal constructions had already been filed with the municipal authorities earlier. In response, a demolition drive was launched on Monday morning under heavy police security, with bulldozers used to raze the illegal houses linked to the accused. Meanwhile, a strong police presence has been deployed in the locality, effectively turning the area into a high-security zone. Officials confirmed that the situation is currently under control, though further investigation is ongoing. The developments have added to tensions in the locality, especially after reports of an upcoming religious gathering later in the day.

According to available information, a religious programme is scheduled to take place at the site on Monday evening, where the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa is expected to be conducted in the presence of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. The incident has triggered strong reactions, particularly due to the alleged assault on Bajrang Dal members and the involvement of individuals linked to illegal settlements. Somaiya is said to have taken an aggressive stance following the developments, further intensifying the already tense atmosphere in the area. With the situation remaining sensitive, it will be crucial to see how the police respond to the planned gathering and maintain law and order in the coming hours.
