Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray made some serious allegations against the ruling party BJP and Deputy CM Eknath Shinde's governance of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. Aaditya has appealed that a tax will be imposed on the citizens of Mumbai in the name of solid waste management and all Mumbaikars should strongly oppose this tax. In conference he said, "When we were in power over the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, we had waived property tax for houses up to 500 square feet. But this April Fool's government of Devendra Fadnavis is going to impose a solid waste management fee of Rs 100 per month even on a house of 500 square feet. This fee will gradually increase. In the last two and a half years, the Essanshi government has looted Mumbai, put the sweat money of Mumbaikars in the pockets of its beloved contractors, so now the fee is being charged from the common citizens. Time has been given till May 31 for suggestions and objections regarding this fee. I, on behalf of the Shiv Sena (UBT) party, am requesting all Mumbaikars that we should strongly oppose this fee, because this is Adani tax. This tax is being imposed on us to serve the owners of Essanshi and BJP. Therefore, every Mumbaikar and Mumbai-loving public should send a written notice to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and tell them that we are opposing this tax and we will not pay a single rupee," said Aaditya. Thackeray has addressed Mumbaikars.

"For the first time in the history of Mumbai, such a fee has been imposed."

Aaditya Thackeray said, "I had held a press conference two-three months ago and said that Adani tax will be imposed on Mumbai. Now the Mumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a press note yesterday. It says that solid waste means the waste that is thrown out from every house and shop. Fines should be imposed on those who spit on the road, those who throw garbage, if the fine is increased, we have no say in it. This fine should be collected. But for the first time in the history of Mumbai, a fee will be imposed on solid waste. Why is this happening, for whom is it happening, who is responsible for this? We should think about all this."

Aaditya Thackeray has strongly attacked Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde over the condition of the roads in Mumbai. "When our government was in power, they had promised that we would make Mumbai pothole-free in two years, but now the entire city is covered in dust and potholes. Mumbai city has thrown it into the pothole. Due to this, the MLAs are suffering, the citizens of the city are suffering," he said.

"...This is an April Fool's Day."

Today, April 1st, also known as April Fool's Day globally, Aaditya Thackeray criticized the Maharashtra government formed with the Election Commission's approval, calling it an "April Fool's Day government." He argued that in its first 100 days, the government has achieved nothing, scrapping old schemes and failing to deliver on promises. He highlighted the reduced and potentially discontinued Ladki Bahin scheme (promised Rs 2,500, currently Rs 1,500) and the closure of the Ladka Bhau scheme. Thackeray also pointed out the government's broken promise of farmer loan waivers, contrasting Devendra Fadnavis' pre-election statements with the current Deputy Chief Minister's stance.
