Mumbaikars are witnessing extreme climate conditions in the first week of March itself, as the afternoon temperature on Wednesday clocked 37 degrees Celsius. Streets and parks were seen as silent in the daytime and corporate workers avoided going out in the Sun.

After extreme climate conditions, netizens rush to social media sites asking whether the heatwave conditions in the city have prevailed. Several X users (formerly known as Twitter), reacted to sudden weather changes.

An X user said he felt like a "hot oven" when he went out of his office for a walk after lunch in Mumbai's Airoli area. He reported the temperature at 38°C with 16% humidity.

"Did a post lunch walk in office campus at Airoli. Temperature at 38°C with 16% humidity felt like hot oven which Mumbaikars are not used to. Thankfully there's enough shade to walk and avoid any adverse affects of heat wave," @Explorer_Yash wrote further.

Another user tagging BMC, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and others said, "Heat wave in Mumbai temperatures between 35 to 41 degrees C simply crazy .. stay safe."

A Mumbaikar said, "It's 11:00 am & Temp' has already hit 34/5°C (real feel 38°C🌡️), over most of the areas, actual will hit 39°C by 2 pm. This heatwave-like condition will stay till March 9, with temp peaking to 41°C🌡️(interior MMR)."

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) a yellow alert was issued and warned of hot and humid conditions in Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), including Palghar, Thane, and Raigad. The weather department forecasted hot and humid conditions, most likely in isolated pockets in these districts on Wednesday (March 4) and Thursday (March 5).

Skies are expected to remain clear with daytime temperatures between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius, as the conditions will remain humid and uncomfortable.
