The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday carried out major raids at three locations in Mumbai in connection with a case related to the alleged online propaganda of banned terror outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The operation began late in the evening and continued till late night. During the raids, several electronic devices including mobile phones and laptops were seized, and multiple individuals were questioned.
According to sources, the action was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs. Coordinated raids were conducted in Kurla and the Shivaji Nagar area of Govandi. The inputs had indicated that certain individuals were allegedly involved in the dissemination and consumption of radical content through digital platforms. ATS teams simultaneously carried out the operation at all three locations in a coordinated manner.
The Maharashtra ATS has maintained that it does not wish to take any chances when it comes to security. Acting promptly on the intelligence inputs, the agency launched the search operation without delay.
The seized electronic devices have been sent for forensic examination. Through this analysis, officials are attempting to gather evidence related to online activities, communication channels, and possible recruitment efforts. The ATS believes that the forensic investigation of digital devices could help uncover the entire network.
Several individuals were also questioned during the raids to ascertain the nature and extent of their alleged involvement. The action is part of an ongoing investigation into radical activities and the online circulation of ISIS-linked propaganda material.
