Mumbai: The Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board’s special cause committee has announced a second and final hearing for 11 applicants seeking transit tenement allocation. The hearing, scheduled for March 6, 2025, comes after none of the applicants attended the initial session on February 27.

In a bid to ensure natural justice, the committee is giving the applicants one last chance to appear in person with the necessary documents. Despite previous attempts to notify them—through registered post, personal visits by officials, and even public notices in newspapers—none of the applicants were present for the first hearing.

One applicant had collected the hearing notice from the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) office but did not attend the February 27 session. Given that identity verification and document validation are crucial, the committee deems their physical presence essential before making any decisions on eligibility.

MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, IAS, has directed the three-member committee, chaired by the Deputy Chief Engineer of the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board, to proceed with the final hearing. The committee will review the submitted documents and prepare a detailed eligibility report, which will determine the allocation of transit tenements.

With this final opportunity, the board urges all 11 applicants to be present on March 6, failing which their claims may not be considered.
