A shocking incident of suicide has come to light in the Antop Hill area, where a 24-year-old woman allegedly ended her life by hanging herself following a dispute in a romantic relationship and alleged mental harassment. Police have registered a case against her boyfriend for allegedly abetting the suicide.

According to police sources, the woman, a resident of Antop Hill, allegedly hanged herself in a room of her house on the night of March 8. The incident came to light on the morning of March 9 when her family members opened the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan with the help of a scarf.

She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

During a search of the house, the police recovered a six-page suicide note from the spot. The note, written in English, reportedly states that the woman had been in a relationship with the accused for the past one year and that he had insulted her and used abusive language against her. The note further mentions that the humiliation had left her mentally distressed.

Based on the contents of the suicide note and a complaint lodged by the family members, the police have registered a case against the accused under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 for abetment of suicide.

The suicide note has been seized and sent for forensic examination. Further investigation is underway under the supervision of a police inspector to ascertain the exact circumstances behind the woman’s death and the role of the accused.
