A shocking incident occurred at Juhu, where a 26-year-old man was attacked, and his thumb was partially severed following a dispute over chasing away a dog. The Juhu police have registered a case of attempted murder and arrested the accused.

According to the police, the complainant, Arjun Kailas Giri (26), visited Juhu Chowpatty with his friend Ramsingh Rajput on Sunday. While returning home through Birla Lane, a dog from a nearby food stall suddenly charged toward Giri, barking aggressively. Alarmed, Giri picked up a nearby chair and tried to shoo the dog away.

However, this act enraged an unknown man at the spot, who began abusing and pushing Giri. The situation quickly escalated when the enraged man rushed to the food stall, grabbed a knife, and attacked Giri, slashing him multiple times. During the attack, Giri’s left thumb was partially severed.

Giri was immediately rushed to Cooper Hospital for treatment, where he narrated the incident to the police. Based on his statement, the Juhu police registered a case under Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita sections 109, 352, and sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act.

A police team was swiftly deployed, and the accused, identified as Omkar Manohar Mukhiya alias Omkar Sharma (25), was arrested. The accused, who works in the catering business, has no prior criminal record. During interrogation, he confessed that he acted in anger because Giri had chased the dog.

Giri sustained severe injuries, including deep knife wounds on his left thumb, abdomen (left side), back of the head, left arm, and both hands. He is currently undergoing treatment at Cooper Hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable.

The police have confirmed that the weapon used in the attack has not yet been recovered, and further investigations are underway.
