A shocking incident has come to light between Kurla Railway Station and Sion, where a 38-year-old man, identified as Maruf Mohammad Khan, allegedly died by suicide by jumping in front of a local train. The tragic incident took place on April 11, following which the Kurla Railway Police were informed. Initially, the police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in connection with the case.

According to the police, a handwritten suicide note was found on the deceased's hand, written with a pen, wherein Maruf had held his wife, mother-in-law, and a few others responsible for his death. The note also alleged that his wife was being forced into illegal activities. Acting on a complaint lodged by Maruf’s sister, the police have registered an FIR and initiated further investigation.

During the probe, Maruf’s sister informed the police that her sister-in-law, Haseena Khatoon, allegedly had illicit relationships with other men and, along with her family, was continuously harassing Maruf. She also revealed that they were demanding ₹20 lakh from Maruf for agreeing to a divorce. Fed up with the constant harassment and pressure, Maruf reportedly took the extreme step.

Following this revelation, the Kurla Railway Police have registered a case against Haseena Khatoon and four others under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for abetment to suicide.

As of now, no arrests have been made in the case. Further investigation is being carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sambhaji Yadav, with Police Sub-Inspector Rathod leading the probe. The incident highlights the mental anguish faced by the deceased, and the police are continuing their thorough inquiry into the matter.
