A blaze erupted at an industrial compound in the Dharavi slum area of Mumbai, resulting in burn injuries for at least six person, as confirmed by civic authorities. The wounded were promptly transported to the nearby Sion hospital, operated by the civic body, where they are currently receiving treatment. Reports indicate that their condition is stable.

According to a civic official, the fire broke out in structures spanning three and four stories within the Ashok Mill Compound at Kala Qila in the Dharavi area, occurring around 3:45 am. At least five fire engines and other fire fighting vehicles, including water tankers, were rushed to the spot, the official said, adding that efforts were on to douse the blaze.

Another civic official mentioned that the fire primarily affected wooden material and furniture, among other items. Meanwhile, a police official stated that investigations revealed the fire originated from a textile unit within the industrial compound. Upon notification, the city police, civic ward personnel, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) team, along with ambulances, swiftly responded to the scene. The cause of the fire was not yet known.
