In a swift action, Bandra Police arrested the accused in the murder and robbery case of a 67-year-old woman within just two hours of the crime being reported. The incident took place in a society located in Bandra West Reclamation. The police registered a case of murder and robbery on Monday night after the crime came to light. According to police sources, the accused was known to the deceased and had a financial dispute with her.

The deceased has been identified as Rekha Khonde (67), who had been living alone in Kanchan Society, Bandra West Reclamation, for the past few weeks. Her daughter had been staying in Malad for some time. Concerned after being unable to reach her mother over the phone for the past two to three days, the daughter visited her mother's residence on Monday night. Upon arrival, she noticed a foul smell emanating from the house, which raised her suspicion. She immediately informed the Bandra Police.

When the police arrived at the scene and broke open the door, they discovered Rekha Khonde's decomposed body, tied with a rope. Marks of stab wounds were also found on her body. The police sent the body to Cooper Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Based on the daughter's complaint, the police registered a case of murder and robbery against an unknown person. During the investigation, the daughter expressed suspicion about Sharif Ali Samsher Ali Sheikh (27), a resident of the same locality. Acting swiftly, the police launched a search operation and managed to apprehend Sharif within two hours. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Sharif was acquainted with the deceased and used to visit her frequently. The deceased had lent some money to Sharif, leading to disputes over repayment. This financial disagreement is believed to have led Sharif to commit the murder. He also stole gold ornaments and cash from the house, as confirmed in the initial probe.

Bandra Police have arrested Sharif, and further investigation is underway.
