The Maharashtra government has appointed Abhinav Goel, the current Collector of Hingoli, as the new Municipal Commissioner of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC). The decision, announced on Tuesday, sees Goel, an IAS officer from the 2016 batch, taking over the position from Indurani Jakhar, who has been transferred to serve as the Collector of Palghar district.
Goel, originally from Uttar Pradesh, is a skilled administrator with an engineering degree. He has previously served as the Collector of Dhule and is widely recognized for his administrative acumen and field-level engagement. His appointment is being viewed as a strategic move by the state government to enhance governance in the rapidly developing Kalyan-Dombivli region.

Indurani Jakhar's Transfer

She is also a 2016-batch IAS officer and boasts a distinguished career. Jakhar, hailing from Jhajjar, Haryana, holds a medical degree (MBBS) from 2013. However, her passion for public administration led her to shift her career path, ultimately securing an All India Rank of 30 in her second attempt at the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Jakhar's husband, Mohit Kumar Garg, is an IPS officer.
Other Key Administrative Changes
In another significant administrative change, Sanjay Katkar, the former Commissioner of the Mira-Bhayander Municipal Corporation, has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation (MAHIT) based in Mumbai.
