In a major crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Senior Police Inspector Sanjeev Baliram Tawde and Police Sub-Inspector Dnyaneshwar Govindrao Junne of Kurar Police Station for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1 lakh. A case has been registered against the duo under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

According to ACB officials, a complaint of financial fraud had been registered against the complainant at Kurar Police Station. Additionally, on January 22, 2026, a verbal complaint of sexual exploitation was made against the complainant’s brother. It is alleged that the accused officers demanded a total bribe of ₹3 lakh to avoid taking action in both matters. Out of the total amount, ₹2 lakh had already been paid, and the remaining ₹1 lakh was being demanded.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB on February 3, 2026. During verification conducted on February 18, it was confirmed that the accused officers had demanded the bribe. Subsequently, a trap was laid, and PSI Junne was caught red-handed while accepting ₹1 lakh. Senior Inspector Tawde was also immediately taken into custody.

During a search of Tawde’s office cabin, the ACB recovered ₹6.34 lakh in cash. The source of the seized amount is currently under investigation.

In recent months, the ACB has also taken action against senior officials from Wadala TT and Shivajinagar police stations, indicating an intensified drive against corruption within the police department.
