Rash and negligent driving claimed the life of an unidentified pedestrian in Mumbai’s Malad East area. The incident occurred near Dada-Dadi Park, where a speeding motorcycle fatally knocked down a man. Police have arrested the accused, a delivery boy, in connection with the case.
According to the police, the accident took place around 10:30 pm on April 7 on Datt Mandir Road. The victim, believed to be around 35 years old, was walking along the road when a high-speed motorcycle rammed into him.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the victim critically injured and collapsed on the road. Local residents rushed to help and shifted him to a nearby hospital. He was later referred to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali for further treatment. However, despite efforts by doctors, he was declared dead.
Following the accident, the accused rider, identified as Deepak Bhosale (20), arrived at the police station on his own. During interrogation, he confessed to the incident. Police said he was riding at high speed and in a negligent manner at the time of the accident.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused lost control of the vehicle due to negligence and failure to assess road conditions, leading to the fatal crash. The victim suffered a leg fracture and severe head injuries, which proved fatal.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections for rash driving and causing death by negligence. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased.
