Mumbai Police have tracked down a key accuse who allegedly issued bomb threats targeting prominent schools, the stock exchange and metro stations in the city. During the investigation into a case registered at Dindoshi Police Station, it was revealed that the accused is already in the custody of Gujarat Police.

According to police officials, on February 27, 2026, at around 8:46 am, a threatening email was sent via the internet claiming that bomb blasts would be carried out within the next two days at several schools, the stock exchange and metro stations in Mumbai. Considering the gravity of the online terror threat, Dindoshi Police registered an FIR under Sections 351(3), 351(4), 352(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66(C) and 66(F) of the Information Technology (IT) Act.

Following technical analysis and investigation, the accused was identified as Saurav Biswas (28), a resident of New Barrackpore, Agapur area in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. When a special team of Dindoshi Police reached West Bengal to arrest him, it was found that he had also sent similar threatening emails in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

During the probe, on March 3, 2026, officials from New Barrackpore Police Station informed Mumbai Police that the accused had sent a similar threat email in Ahmedabad on February 16, 2026. In this connection, a case had already been registered at the Cyber Crime Police Station in Ahmedabad.

The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Police had taken the accused into custody on March 1, 2026, and shifted him to Gujarat for further interrogation.

Dindoshi Police are now initiating legal procedures and court formalities to obtain the accused’s custody to further investigate the conspiracy behind the threats issued to Mumbai establishments.
