Acting on intelligence inputs, officers of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai, intercepted a Brazilian national suspected of smuggling narcotics at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The passenger had arrived from Sao Paulo on flight AF 218.

A thorough personal search of the passenger led to the discovery of seven pouches containing a viscous liquid substance concealed within inner clothing. Upon testing with a field test kit, the substance was confirmed to be cocaine. The accused also admitted to carrying the narcotic substance.

A total of 1,110 grams of liquid cocaine, valued at approximately ₹11.1 crore in the illicit market, was recovered. The contraband was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the passenger was placed under arrest as per the provisions of the Act.
