Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced the discontinuation of the ‘Clean-Up Marshal’ initiative from April 4, 2025. Under this initiative, marshals were deployed to monitor public cleanliness and impose fines for littering under the Solid Waste Management Department and the ‘Swachh Mumbai Abhiyan’.

However, the BMC has clarified that from April 4 onwards, Clean-Up Marshals are no longer authorised to collect fines. If citizens encounter any instance of unauthorized fine collection by these marshals, they are urged to immediately report the matter to the BMC’s Divisional Control Room.

For complaints and assistance, the BMC has activated helpline numbers: 022-23855128/ 022-23877691 (Ext. 549/500)

The municipal administration has urged Mumbaikars to stay alert and report any violations to ensure proper enforcement of the new directive.
