Panic gripped the Passport Office in Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) after a bomb threat was received via email, claiming that the premises would be blown up.

According to officials, the email stated that as many as 19 bombs filled with cyanide gas had been planted inside the passport office, including in the washrooms, and would explode at 1:30 PM.

The threatening email was sent from the ID Sourav_biswas21 to official email addresses. Following the threat, security agencies were immediately put on high alert.

Upon receiving the information, senior officers from BKC Police Station, along with teams from the Bomb Squad and Crime Branch, rushed to the spot. The entire premises was cordoned off and a thorough search operation was launched.

As a precautionary measure, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and Dog Squad carried out an intensive search of the passport office premises, including the lobby, main entrance, entry and exit routes, and surrounding areas.

No suspicious or objectionable items were found during the search operation, bringing relief to authorities. However, police are continuing to remain vigilant and are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
