Mumbai Civic Body to Procure Stationery Worth ₹3.86 Crore for Next Two Years

Mumbai: With an enormous budget of nearly ₹80,000 crore, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation requires a massive volume of stationery and office supplies for its various departments. The scale of demand is equally vast, including 1,93,300 ball pens, 14,100 gum bottles, 33,800 marker pens, 54,200 notebooks, and 21,600 cello tapes. The requirement also includes a staggering 7,59,000 envelopes, along with 14,400 “confidential envelopes” used for official purposes. These materials are essential for the smooth functioning of the municipal headquarters as well as multiple ward offices and departmental units spread across the city, ensuring uninterrupted administrative and clerical work.

Each department places its demand based on operational needs, following which procurement is carried out through the central purchasing department. This year, a tender worth approximately ₹3.86 crore has been approved for stationery procurement, which will cover requirements for the next two years. A closer look at the procurement list reveals detailed insights into the types and quantities of items required. Around 72 different stationery items will be purchased, with envelopes of various sizes and types forming the largest share. Other commonly required items include box files, rubber bands, punch machines, staplers, stamp pads, desk calendars, plastic dustbins, and sponges, all procured as per demand.

The detailed list of materials highlights the scale of administrative operations, including 7,59,000 envelopes, 1,93,300 ball pens, 54,200 notebooks, and 33,800 marker pens. Additionally, 22,000 staplers, 21,600 cello tapes, and 15,500 whiteners are part of the procurement. The list further includes 14,400 confidential envelopes, 14,100 gum bottles, 12,100 glue sticks (15 grams), and 11,400 highlighters. Other items such as 9,800 plastic rulers, 7,400 pencil boxes, 7,300 plastic trays, 6,400 programme booklet covers, and 5,400 calculators are also included, along with 3,100 sharpeners, 3,100 packets of ‘U’ clips, and 2,600 paperweights.
