In a major breakthrough, Shivaji Nagar Police Station has arrested four more accused in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old woman that allegedly stemmed from a love triangle in Kamla Raman Nagar, located in Baiganwadi area of Govandi. With this, the total number of arrested accused has risen to eight, while one accused remains absconding and is being actively searched for.

Police have so far seized three country-made pistols, two magazines and four live cartridges in connection with the crime. According to police sources, the four accused arrested recently had allegedly helped the main accused after the murder.

The incident took place on Wednesday when 19-year-old Shifa Sheikh was shot dead. Police investigation revealed that the prime accused Tabassum allegedly shot her over a love triangle involving Nadeem.

Earlier, police had arrested Tabassum, Nadeem, Tabassum’s brother Sajid and another accused Kamal.

During the initial probe, police had seized the pistol used in the crime along with four cartridges. Investigation revealed that Nadeem was allegedly in relationships with both Tabassum and Shifa. Tabassum reportedly objected to this and had earlier threatened Shifa to stay away from Nadeem or face fatal consequences. When Shifa allegedly refused to end the relationship, Tabassum allegedly used a country-made pistol belonging to Nadeem and shot Shifa, leading to her death.

Under the guidance of Sameer Sheikh and Anagha Satavse, police teams arrested the first four accused within eight hours of the incident.

Further interrogation revealed the involvement of four more persons who allegedly helped dispose of the body and weapons after the murder. Based on this, police arrested Harish Singh alias Jinda, Sadik Ansari, Akshay Kumar and Nazre Alam on Friday.

Police have also seized two additional country-made pistols and two magazines from the newly arrested accused. Further investigation is underway to trace the absconding accused and establish the full conspiracy behind the crime.
