In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Customs Department at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, Mumbai, seized 785 grams of suspected cocaine valued at approximately ₹7.85 crore from a foreign passenger.

Acting on spot profiling, customs officials intercepted a foreign national who had arrived in Mumbai on April 9, 2025, by Flight No. UR430. During initial questioning, the passenger exhibited noticeable signs of nervousness and uneasiness, which raised suspicion.

Upon further examination and medical investigation, it was discovered that the passenger had ingested multiple yellow-coloured pellets. These pellets were later found to contain a white, crumbled substance suspected to be cocaine. The recovery of the contraband was carried out under medical supervision and documented through a Panchanama on April 13, 2025.

The seized narcotic, weighing 785 grams, holds an estimated street value of ₹7.85 crore in the illicit market. Following the recovery, the passenger was placed under arrest under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Officials have confirmed that further investigation is currently underway.
