A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade area, where a 20-year-old woman with hearing and speech disabilities was allegedly sexually assaulted and impregnated by her own father. According to NDTV, the accused was taken into custody after forensic analysis confirmed that his DNA matched that of the foetus. Police said the crime came to light after the woman was found to be five months pregnant. The case has shocked the city due to the extreme vulnerability of the survivor and the betrayal of trust involved, with investigators describing it as one of the most harrowing incidents they have handled.

How and When The Case Was Reported?

The case first surfaced in September 2025 when the woman complained to her grandmother about severe discomfort in her abdomen. Through hand gestures, she described the sensation as feeling like insects moving inside her stomach. Alarmed, the family admitted her to Cama and Albless Hospital, where medical tests revealed an advanced pregnancy. Hospital authorities immediately alerted the police, prompting an investigation. Officials later stated that the sexual assault likely occurred between March and September 21 last year, following which a formal police case was registered on September 22, reported NDTV.

How Police Confirmed Identity Of The Accused?

Investigators initially faced difficulties due to communication barriers, as the survivor was hesitant and unable to record a statement. NDTV reported that the police questioned the father, who denied any sexual abuse and failed to explain the pregnancy, while also refusing to file a complaint. After sustained counselling, the woman eventually cooperated, leading to the arrest of another man and the detention of a 17-year-old boy she identified. DNA and blood samples from 17 suspects were examined, and on January 27, forensic results confirmed only one match — her father.
