Oshiwara Police have arrested a domestic worker for allegedly stealing gold jewellery studded with diamonds and cash worth ₹8.5 lakh from a doctor’s residence in Andheri. The accused has been identified as Sudhanshu Yadav, and efforts are underway to recover the stolen items.

The complainant, a 73-year-old doctor, resides with his family in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri. His wife, son, and daughter-in-law are also medical professionals. The household employed Sudhanshu along with a female domestic helper. Sudhanshu lives in Anand Nagar near Jogeshwari’s Heera Panna Shopping Mall and commuted daily to work.

The incident took place between December 25 and 27 when the entire family went to Lonavala for a vacation. During this time, Sudhanshu was the only one left in the house. After finishing his chores, he returned to his residence.

Upon the family’s return on December 27, they discovered that jewellery worth ₹4.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh in cash were missing from their cupboard. Suspecting foul play, they questioned both domestic helpers. The female helper confirmed that she had been at work, but Sudhanshu had left after completing his tasks.

When confronted, Sudhanshu admitted to the theft but refused to provide information about the stolen jewellery. The family immediately lodged a complaint with Oshiwara Police, leading to a case being registered against him.

Following the complaint, police arrested Sudhanshu on Saturday and presented him in court, which remanded him to police custody. Investigators are currently interrogating him to recover the stolen valuables.

Further investigation is underway.
