Mumbai Double Murder: Man Kills Girlfriend, Her Mother After Marriage Proposal Rejected in Virar

A shocking double murder case has sent shockwaves across Virar after a man allegedly killed his girlfriend and her mother before attempting suicide following the rejection of his marriage proposal. The victims were identified as 24-year-old Nancy Mishra and her mother, 45-year-old Sarita Mishra, while the accused has been named as Shivam Upadhyay. The incident took place at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday, April 29, inside the Poonam Aakanksha building near New Viva College in Virar West. The brutal crime created panic in the locality as residents gathered outside the residential complex after learning about the horrifying attack that unfolded inside the apartment.

According to preliminary information, Shivam Upadhyay and Nancy Mishra had reportedly been in a relationship for the last two years. On Tuesday night, the accused had visited Nancy’s residence along with his family members to formally seek her hand in marriage. However, both Nancy and her mother Sarita allegedly refused the proposal, which reportedly angered Shivam. Police said the accused returned to the house on Wednesday carrying a sharp weapon and launched a violent attack on the two women. Nancy and her mother sustained severe injuries and died on the spot during the assault inside their Virar West residence, officials said.

After attacking the mother and daughter, the accused allegedly tried to end his own life by injuring himself with a blade. Residents of the building rushed towards the apartment after hearing loud screams and disturbance from inside the flat. Neighbours found the two women and the accused lying in a pool of blood before immediately informing the police. Shivam Upadhyay was later shifted to a hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment under police watch. The Bolinj Police have registered a double murder case and initiated a detailed investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and other circumstances linked to the crime.
