In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has arrested a 27-year-old woman from the Democratic Republic of Congo for attempting to smuggle cocaine into India. The accused, identified as Bopulenge Ndomba, was caught at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with 10 cocaine-filled capsules inside her body. The total weight of the contraband is 544 grams, with an estimated international market value exceeding ₹5 crore.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, DRI officials intercepted Ndomba upon her arrival from Addis Ababa on Sunday morning. During interrogation, she confessed to carrying the drugs internally to evade detection.

Following legal procedures, the accused was presented before a magistrate and admitted to a government hospital as per court orders.During medical examinations, she expelled 10 capsules containing the narcotic substance.

The seized contraband has been taken into custody under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The accused has been placed under arrest, and authorities have launched a deeper probe to uncover links to larger drug syndicates operating internationally.

This incident highlights the increasing attempts by drug cartels to smuggle narcotics into India through international carriers. Officials have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking networks and ensuring stringent action against those involved.
