In Mumbai, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) driver crashed into an auto rickshaw on April 3. Police said that the two vehicles collided at Goregaon East. A 55-year-old woman was killed. Her two daughters and the auto driver were injured in this accident. The accused driver was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Vanrai Police have arrested the accused. “Speaking with the police, the accused, who is identified as S. Yadav, said that while driving, he lost control of his vehicle, jumped the divider, and crashed into the auto rickshaw that was on the opposite direction,” stated Raju Mane, senior police inspector of the Vanrai Police Station.

The deceased was identified as Hazra Shaikh. She resided at Jogeshwari. “Raju Mane said that around 1:30 AM, Hazra and her two daughters, Shaina (22) and Shirin (17), were returning home in an auto rickshaw after celebrating Eid at their relative’s house in South Mumbai. On the way back home, they met with an accident.” Speaking about the accused, Mane said, “We have arrested Yadav and taken his medical examination. The results confirmed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.”

The police were informed by an eyewitness that there were three other people in the CISF car who were all apparently intoxicated.

Mane stated that Yadav's car had been sent to Malad East for repairs. The SUV collided with the car while he was driving back to the CISF camp in Kalina, Santacruz, after he had picked it up.
