Mumbai Police have arrested an accused who was allegedly selling ganja under the guise of working as an electrician. During the operation, police seized a total of 20.7 kg of ganja from his possession. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohd. Farooq Mohd. Haroon Khan (32). He was apprehended by the Azad Maidan Anti-Narcotics Cell.

According to police officials, the accused is a resident of Wadala and worked as an electrician. However, in a bid to earn quick money, he ventured into the illegal drug trade nearly a year ago. Under the pretext of his work, he travelled to different locations and built a customer base through word-of-mouth publicity.

Investigations revealed that the accused used his two-wheeler to deliver ganja to customers. He allegedly procured large quantities of the drug from Pune and Navi Mumbai and supplied it across Mumbai, particularly in the New Cuffe Parade area.

To evade police detection, the accused carried out deliveries only after 1 am, which helped him remain under the radar for a long time. Police also found that he earned a profit of approximately ₹1,000 per kilogram of ganja.

The accused is married and has two children. During interrogation, it came to light that he resorted to this illegal activity to support his family financially. Notably, he had no prior criminal record.

Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested the accused, seizing the entire stock in his possession. Further investigation is underway to identify whether other accomplices were involved in the racket.
