In a shocking case of internal theft, employees of Janvidhi Gold Private Limited in Andheri have been arrested for allegedly stealing around 100 grams of gold jewellery worth approximately ₹14.75 lakh while manufacturing ornaments at the company’s unit in MIDC.

The MIDC Police have arrested two main accused identified as Sagar Tukaram Dhumal and Akshay Vasant Lambe in connection with the case. The court has remanded both accused to police custody. The theft came to light after CCTV cameras were installed due to stock discrepancies in the jewellery processing department.

According to police, complainant Anand Soni, a businessman residing in Malad with his family, owns Janvidhi Gold Private Limited, which operates from MIDC, Andheri. Pradeep Varsale and Nita Jatakya are partners in the firm. The company manufactures gold jewellery of various designs for different jewellery trading firms, sourcing pure gold from them and converting it into finished ornaments. More than 40 employees work at the unit.

The management noticed that stock in the filling (processing) department was not tallying for the past few days and suspected internal theft. Following this, CCTV cameras were installed in the department. Upon reviewing footage from February 11 to February 27, 2026, the management observed suspicious activities by two employees — Sagar Dhumal and Vishal Lambe — who appeared to be concealing something.

During questioning, Vishal allegedly confessed to stealing gold wire used for making mangalsutras. Further interrogation revealed that he, along with Sagar and other employees, had collectively stolen gold jewellery particles weighing about 100 grams, valued at approximately ₹14.75 lakh.

After the matter came to light, Anand Soni lodged a complaint with the MIDC Police. Following verification, police registered a case of theft against Sagar Dhumal, Vishal Lambe, and other unidentified employees. Subsequently, Sagar and Vishal were arrested.

The court has remanded both accused to police custody, and further investigation is underway. Police officials stated that additional arrests may follow based on the information obtained during interrogation. Efforts are also being made to recover the stolen gold jewellery from the accused.
