Mumbai’s fast-paced life has once again brought tragedy to a family. A young man who set out from Andheri East to Matunga to meet his wife and his 3-month-old son never returned home. A hit-and-run accident on the Western Express Highway not only claimed his life but also left behind a newborn child and a shattered family. In this case, Vile Parle Police have registered an FIR and begun searching for the unidentified driver.
According to police, Neelkanth Vijay Ingole (24), a resident of Topliwadi Chawl in Andheri East, was deeply loved by his family. About one and a half years ago, he had eloped and married his partner, Arya. Despite ups and downs in their relationship, they remained connected. Three months ago, the couple welcomed a baby boy. His wife is currently staying at her maternal home in Matunga, and Neelkanth frequently visited her and their child.
On the night of March 24, 2026, around 11:30 PM, Neelkanth left home on his motorcycle. Tragically, it turned out to be his final journey. At around 12:15 AM, near the descent of Centaur Bridge in Vile Parle East on the southbound lane of the Western Express Highway, an unidentified vehicle speeding recklessly rammed into his bike.
The impact was so severe that Neelkanth was thrown onto the road. Instead of stopping to help, the driver fled the scene, leaving him critically injured. He lay on the road without timely medical assistance and eventually succumbed to his injuries.
Vile Parle Police have registered a case against the unknown driver and are scanning CCTV footage from the highway and nearby areas to trace the accused.
