Mumbai: A Timber godown Govandi engulfed into fire on Saturday, March 14, 2026 morning, around 8:40 am. The fire occurred at the timber godown located at plotno. 2 on PL lokhande marg in Chembur Janta market near Kuba Masjid in New Gautam Nagar, Govandi.

Fire department promptly responded and doused of the fire. Mumbai fire Brigade (MFB) declared the incident a Level-I at 8:56 am. However the cause of fire is not known yet Fortunately no injuries reported in this incident. 

Meanwhile, A fire that erupted in the Powai Hills area of Mumbai has reportedly been burning for the last two days, sparking concern among residents who have shared videos of the blaze on social media. Locals claim that the flames have continued to spread across the hilly terrain without any visible intervention from civic authorities.

The incident has raised fears among people living in nearby residential complexes, as the fire appears to be moving across large patches of dry vegetation. Residents from Powai and surrounding neighbourhoods said the flames and thick smoke were clearly visible from several parts of the locality, increasing worries about the potential threat to homes and the environment.
