A fire broke out on Monday evening, February 23, in a commercial building in Mumbai's Dadar West market area, one of the city’s busiest shopping areas. The incident took place in an illegal kitchen of a restaurant at Shree Building on Ranade Road, causing panic among residents and shoppers of the building.

After receiving the information, the rescue team of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) reached the spot and doused the blaze at around 6.40 pm on Monday. No injuries or casualties reported in the incident.

The blaze erupted on the second floor of the Shree Building, a multi-use structure that houses numerous commercial establishments, including several garment shops. Locals allege that a restaurant has set up an illegal kitchen by encroaching on the building’s compound. Residents accused the restaurant of operating a commercial kitchen without the necessary fire safety licences or health department permits.
