A tragic accident claimed the life of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy after he was hit by a car near the gate of a hospital in Parel on Friday morning. The driver fled the scene after the accident, and the Bhoiwada Police have registered a case of negligence against the unidentified motorist. Police have begun a search for the accused with the help of CCTV footage from the hospital and surrounding areas.

The deceased has been identified as Ahmed Raza Aamir Khan (2½). The accident occurred at around 10:15 am on Friday near Gate No. 5 of Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children in Parel.

According to police, Aamir Qutboddin Khan, a resident of Kurla who works in fabrication, lives with his family and has two children — five-year-old Fatima and two-and-a-half-year-old Ahmed Raza. Fatima has been suffering from breathing issues and difficulty in drinking milk, for which she has been undergoing regular medical treatment.

On February 26, Aamir, along with his wife Sana and their son Ahmed Raza, brought Fatima to Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for treatment. After examination, doctors admitted Fatima to Ward No. 11 for further medical care. Since she was hospitalized, both parents were staying at the hospital with her. As Ahmed Raza was very young, he was also staying there with them.

On Friday, March 6, at around 10:15 am, Aamir was waiting for his relative Sahil Khan near the hospital gate while Ahmed Raza was playing in front of Gate No. 5. During this time, a passing car hit the child, leaving him seriously injured. After the accident, the driver fled the spot without providing medical assistance or informing the police.

The child was bleeding from his mouth and ears and was immediately rushed to Wadia Hospital for treatment. His condition was critical and he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

After receiving information from the hospital authorities, Bhoiwada Police rushed to the scene and recorded the statement of the child’s father, Aamir Khan. Based on his complaint, police have registered a case against the unidentified driver for causing death due to negligent driving.

Police have seized CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby areas and have launched a search for the absconding driver.
