The Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) proposed a new User Development Fee structure (UDF). MIAL said that this was part of its strategic initiative aiming to improve amenities for passengers and infrastructure at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai. The proposal was submitted to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA). It states that a UDF of Rs 325 for domestic departures and Rs 650 for international departures, should be charged.

“This strategic recalibration of charges aims to offset the impact on passengers by reducing airline landing and parking charges by approximately 35 percent. The reduction is expected to help airlines manage costs more efficiently and maintain competitive ticket prices," said a MIAL spokesperson, reported TOI.

At CSMIA, the Yield Per Passenger (YPP) is currently Rs 285. "The proposal submitted to AERA aims to revise the YPP to approximately Rs 332, representing an 18% increase, in line with the Consultation Paper issued by AERA on March 10, 2025," MIAL stated. The goal of the idea is to increase the current Yield Per Passenger (YPP) by 18%, from Rs 285 to about Rs 332. This change is consistent with the March 10, 2025, Consultation Paper published by AERA.
