Train operations were disrupted for more than an hour on Sunday afternoon after a reportedly intoxicated man climbed an overhead electric (OHE) pole near Kalyan Railway Station on the Central Railway network. The incident took place around 2:02 pm, with visuals showing the man perched on top of the high-voltage structure supplying electricity to platforms 1, 1A, and 2. As a precautionary measure, authorities immediately suspended power and halted train movement on the down lines between Thakurli and Ambivli. This led to delays in two mail and express trains, along with three suburban services, leaving commuters stranded.

Separately, a scheduled mega block impacted services on the Trans-Harbour corridor of Central Railway on Sunday. A special traffic and power block was enforced between Thane Railway Station and Vashi Railway Station/Nerul Railway Station from 11:10 am to 4:10 pm, during which all local trains on this route were cancelled. Additionally, another major block had been undertaken from late Saturday night until Sunday morning to facilitate platform extension work. Construction activities were carried out on platforms 3 and 4 at Thane station, and on platforms 1A, 1, and 2 at Dombivli Railway Station, resulting in further cancellations of suburban services during the block period.

Meanwhile, services on the Harbour line between Goregaon Railway Station and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus have been suspended for nearly three months to support ongoing infrastructure expansion. The shutdown is part of a larger plan to construct the fifth and sixth railway lines along the Western Railway corridor, aimed at improving capacity between Mumbai Central and Borivali. While the project is expected to enhance long-term connectivity, it is likely to cause significant inconvenience to thousands of daily commuters in the short term.
