The J.J. Marg police have registered a case against Mohammed Abutalib Syed for allegedly duping seven unemployed youths of approximately ₹8.75 lakh under the pretext of providing jobs and visas. The accused falsely promised them employment at a reputed hospital in Saudi Arabia but instead placed five of them as cleaning staff at a poultry farm. After a month, they were sent back to India, while the passports of the remaining two were retained without sending them abroad.

Mohammed Sayyadur Rehman Mohammed Abdul Hamid, a 41-year-old driver from the Chinch Bandar area, lodged the complaint. In November 2023, he came in contact with Mohammed Abutalib, who lured him with lucrative overseas job opportunities. The accused claimed that a reputed hospital in Saudi Arabia required workers and assured assistance with both employment and visa processing. Trusting him, Sayyadur applied for jobs for himself, his two brothers, and five other relatives, paying ₹8.75 lakh in total.

A few months later, five of his relatives—Mohammed Sarim Ahmed, Rashid Ahmed, Mohammed Ismail Ali, Mohammed Jamaluddin, and Mohammed Badruddin Farooq Ahmed—were sent to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, instead of getting hospital jobs, they were forced to work as cleaning staff at a poultry farm. Left with no option, they worked there for a month before being sent back to India. Upon returning to Mumbai, they informed Sayyadur about the scam.

Meanwhile, Sayyadur’s two brothers, Riyazul Ahmed and Kamarul Ahmed, were not even sent to Saudi Arabia, and their passports were withheld by Abutalib. Upon realizing the fraud, Sayyadur filed a police complaint.

Following an investigation, the police registered a case of cheating against Mohammed Abutalib.
