Mumbai– The construction of two major flyovers near Mahalaxmi Railway Station is progressing swiftly, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) setting a deadline of October 31, 2026, for completion. Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar conducted an on-site inspection today and directed authorities to ensure that work continues without delays, even during the monsoon.

As part of Mumbai’s infrastructure development plan, a flyover is being built on Dr. E. Moses Road, while a cable-stayed flyover is coming up on Keshavrao Khadye Marg. The latter will be the first cable-supported bridge by the BMC over railway tracks, spanning 803 meters in length and connecting Saat Rasta to Mahalaxmi Maidan. Another flyover from E. Moses Road to Dhobi Ghat in Worli will cover 639 meters.

To accelerate progress, Bangar emphasized the need for simultaneous construction activities and careful scheduling. A 78-meter-high pylon for the cable-stayed bridge is expected to take seven months to complete, while the bridge spans will require approximately 250 days. The BMC has also made alignment adjustments to protect trees in the project area.

Additionally, some houses and establishments will be affected due to the construction, and BMC has instructed the relevant ward departments to complete relocation procedures. The corporation has also assured that slip roads and alternative routes will be maintained to ensure smooth traffic flow during the construction phase.

With these developments, Mumbai commuters can look forward to a significant reduction in traffic congestion in the Mahalaxmi area once the project is completed.
