A 24-year-old domestic help was arrested by the Bangur Nagar Police for allegedly stealing four gold bangles from the house of film and television actress Karuna Verma. The accused confessed that she committed the theft as she needed money for her wedding. The police have assured that the stolen jewelry will soon be recovered.

Karuna Verma, known for her roles in Hindi films and TV serials, resides at Saibaba Park, Malad. Living alone, she had recently hired the young woman as a housemaid. The accused had been working at her house for about a month.

Verma had purchased four gold bangles as a gift for her mother’s 50th wedding anniversary and had kept them securely in her wardrobe. Due to frequent outdoor shoots, the actress was often away from home, leaving the maid as the only occupant of the house.

On Monday, March 17, when Karuna Verma checked her wardrobe, she found that the gold bangles were missing. After searching thoroughly and finding no trace of them, she lodged a complaint with Bangur Nagar Police. In her complaint, she expressed suspicion that her housemaid might be involved in the theft.

Based on her complaint, the police registered a theft case and initiated an investigation. Upon questioning the 24-year-old maid, she confessed to stealing the gold bangles.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that she was about to get married next month and needed money for her wedding expenses. To fund her wedding, she stole the gold bangles and had planned to sell them. However, before she could execute her plan, the police arrested her and exposed the crime.

The police have assured that the stolen jewelry will be recovered soon, and further legal action is being taken against the accused.
