A man has been arrested in Mumbai's Nehrunagar area on charges of raping a young woman after allegedly luring her into a relationship by promising marriage, police said on Saturday, quoted by the news agency IANS. The accused is now in judicial custody, while the survivor is being provided legal aid and counselling by the Nehru Nagar Police.

Police said the accused reportedly gained the woman’s trust over time and convinced her to enter a romantic relationship by assuring her of marriage. When she later pressed for the marriage, he refused, distanced himself, and the woman approached the police with a formal complaint. Authorities acted swiftly, traced the accused, and arrested him from the same locality.
