Mumbai’s Andheri area witnessed a shocking case of blackmail, where a 27-year-old woman was allegedly threatened with the viral circulation of her obscene photos by her own colleague. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Naveen Kumar Singh, was arrested by MIDC Police after a case of extortion and molestation was registered against him.

According to the police, the complainant, a resident of Ghatkopar, was previously employed at a private company in Lower Parel, where she met Naveen Singh, who worked as a supervisor. Over time, they developed a friendly relationship. Four years ago, Singh invited her to celebrate his birthday at New Life Hotel in Marol, Andheri. During the celebration, he allegedly forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her. He also secretly took explicit photos of the incident on his mobile phone.

Following the assault, Singh reportedly began blackmailing the woman, demanding ₹70,000 from her. He threatened to leak the obscene pictures on social media if she failed to pay the amount. Despite constant pressure, the woman refused to give in to his demands. The situation escalated when Singh allegedly sent the obscene pictures to her sister, leading to her public humiliation.

Distressed by the threats and blackmail, the victim approached the Ghatkopar Police Station and lodged a complaint. The case was then transferred to the MIDC Police, as the crime took place in Andheri’s Marol area. Acting swiftly, the police arrested Naveen Singh and seized his mobile phone, which contained several obscene photos of the complainant.

A case has been registered against the accused under sections related to molestation and extortion, and further investigation is underway.
