A shocking incident has come to light from Khar West, where a 33-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after being distressed due to ongoing domestic disputes and alleged harassment by his wife. The police have registered a case against the deceased’s wife for alleged assault and abetment to suicide.

According to Khar Police, the deceased, identified as Subhash (33), a resident of Khar Danda, died by suicide on January 13, 2026, by hanging himself at his residence. Following the incident, family members rushed him to Bhabha Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

In a recent development, the deceased’s mother, Urmila (55), lodged a complaint at Khar Police Station on March 19, 2026, accusing her daughter-in-law, Anita Yadav, of abetting her son’s suicide. In her complaint, she alleged that Subhash and his wife had been facing prolonged marital discord.

The complainant further claimed that Anita frequently assaulted and verbally abused Subhash and allegedly pressured him to either seek a divorce or end his life. The family has also stated that they possess video evidence of the alleged physical abuse.

As per the complaint, on the day of the incident, Anita had come home in the morning and left in the afternoon. She returned around 4:30 pm, following which an argument reportedly broke out between the couple. It is alleged that during the altercation, Anita physically assaulted Subhash.

At around 6:30 pm, when family members returned home, they found the room locked from outside. Upon entering, Subhash was found hanging from the ceiling fan, while his six-year-old son was discovered locked inside the bathroom.

Subhash and Anita got married in 2018, and a domestic violence case between them is currently pending before the Bandra court. Anita had been living separately for the past few years and had recently returned to the residence.

Based on the mother’s complaint, Khar Police have registered a case against Anita Yadav under charges of abetment to suicide. Police officials stated that the matter is under thorough investigation, and further action will be taken based on the postmortem report and other evidence.
