In a historic administrative move, senior IAS officer Ashwini Bhide has been appointed as the Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), making her the first woman to occupy the top post in the civic body’s history. Bhide takes over the position from outgoing Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani, who is set to retire on March 31.
