Vehicular movement on Mumbai-Nashik highway to stand still on Saturday, February 28, 2026 morning. Traffic congestion were reported near Bhiwandi, primarily on Nashik to Mumbai carriageway. Commuters were left stranded for hours as vehicles crawled through the bottleneck.

According to FPJ reports official attributed that the congestion was due to ongoing and incomplete flyover and bridge construction work along the stretch. The road from Rajnoli to Pimplas has five lanes, including a service road. However, the road suddenly narrows to two lanes, causing traffic jams, especially during rush hour.

The problem is made worse by a slope on this section of the road, which slows down trucks. Sometimes, trucks break down, making the traffic even worse. Commuters have reported being stuck in traffic for hours.  Traffic snarl also impacted emergency services, with multiple ambulances caught in the jam, raising concerns over potential delays in critical medical assistance.

Ongoing infrastructure projects are causing frequent traffic congestion, according to local residents. Senior Traffic Police Inspector Sudhakar Yadav of the Kongaon Traffic Division explained that the Mumbai–Nashik Highway narrows from five lanes to two between Rajnoli and Pimplas due to multiple flyovers and bridges under construction, significantly increasing traffic pressure and affecting essential services.

Traffic personnel are managing vehicular movement, but officials concede that disruptions will persist until the infrastructure work is completed on this key highway connecting Mumbai with northern Maharashtra.
