Mumbai is on high alert following intelligence reports of potential terrorist and anti-social threats targeting VVIPs, public places, and crowded areas. In response, the Mumbai Police have implemented stringent security measures to safeguard citizens and maintain public To mitigate risks associated with unauthorized aerial surveillance and potential attacks, the Mumbai Police have issued a prohibitory order banning the use of drones, remote-controlled microlight aircraft, paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, and hot air balloons within city limits without prior police permission. This measure aims to prevent terrorists and anti-social elements from exploiting these devices to target VVIPs, endanger public life, and damage public property. Security has been intensified across various locations, including religious sites, tourist attractions, and other sensitive areas. The police have advised hotels, guesthouses, and lodges to meticulously verify the credentials of individuals checking in, promptly reporting any suspicious activities. Additionally, mock drills are being conducted in sensitive areas to ensure preparedness against potential threats. The Mumbai Police urge citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any unusual or suspicious activities.
The Mumbai Police on Wednesday detained a Mulund-based man for allegedly making a threat call to the police control room. The police said the caller seemed to be mentally disturbed. An officer said that around 1 am on Tuesday, the Mumbai police control room received a call from a mobile number. The caller started abusing the police and said he would blow up the police headquarters. He claimed to be the brother of “aatanki Kasab”, apparently referring to Ajmal Amir Kasab, the 26/11 terror attack convict who was hanged. “Kasab ka bhai bol raha hoon,” he said and hung up. The mobile number was traced to Mulund, following which an FIR was registered at the Mulund police station. The police then tracked down the caller on Wednesday. An officer said they detained one Piyush Shukla (28), who worked as a security guard in Thane. He took a train to Mulund and was under the influence of alcohol. He was driven away from the platform by the Railway Protection Police. Upset, he called up the police control room to complain, but got into an argument and issued the threat. The officer said they issued him a notice and allowed him to go.

For the unversed, Mohammed Ajmal Amir Kasab was a terrorist and a member of the Islamist terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba through which he took part in the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks in Maharashtra, India. Kasab, alongside fellow Lashkar-e-Taiba recruit Ismail Khan, killed 72 people during the attacks, most of them at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Kasab was the only attacker who was apprehended alive by the police. Kasab was found guilty of 80 offences, including murder, waging war against India, possessing explosives, and other charges. On 6 May 2010, he was sentenced to death on four counts and to life imprisonment on five counts. Kasab's death sentence was upheld by the Bombay High Court on 21 February 2011.The verdict was upheld by the Supreme Court of India on 29 August 2012.Kasab was executed by hanging on 21 November 2012 at 7:30 a.m. local time, and subsequently buried within the precincts of Yerwada Central Jail in Pune.
