Mumbai Police Arrests Third Accused in ₹47 Lakh Angadia Trader Loot Case

Mumbai Police has arrested the third accused in connection with the firing and looting of jewelry worth ₹47 lakh from an Angadia trader’s employees in South Mumbai. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Javed Majid Shaikh (42), a resident of Panvel, Raigad.The incident took place on January 6, 2025, at 10:30 PM when three employees of an Angadia trader were heading towards CSMT railway station on two bikes.

 

 

During the investigation, police discovered that the main accused, Mohammad Javed, was hiding in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. A special crime branch team conducted searches across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab for 10–12 days.

 

On February 23, 2025, police received intelligence that Javed was hiding in Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin area and was planning to escape to Kerala. Acting swiftly, police laid a trap at the Sarai Kale Khan Bus Stand and arrested him at 3:30 AM. Authorities also recovered ₹4.25 lakh in cash from his possession.

 

The incident took place on January 6, 2025, at 10:30 PM when three employees of an Angadia trader were heading towards CSMT railway station on two bikes. They were carrying two bags filled with jewelry, which were to be sent to Goa by train.

 

As they reached Blue Gate on P. D'Mello Road, four armed robbers on two bikes started chasing them. The attackers first tried to snatch the bags. When they failed, one of the accused opened fire at a 16-year-old boy, injuring his right leg. The assailants then fled with a bag full of jewelry.

 

 

Following the incident, six teams each from the Crime Branch and local police were deployed for investigation. Within six hours, police arrested two accused using CCTV footage and technical surveillance.

 

The arrested individuals were identified as Kiran Dhanawade alias Nana resident of Girgaon and Haroon Noor Mohammad Madia alias Ghachi, resident near Masjid Railway Station.Police recovered jewelry worth ₹16.07 lakh from their possession.

 

 

The investigation revealed that the accused are professional criminals with 20–25 serious cases registered against them.Kiran Dhanawade alias Nana: Has four cases of assault against him.Haroon Noor Mohammad Madia alias Ghachi: Has two prior drug-related cases.

 

 

The police are now searching for the remaining accused and further investigations are underway. Authorities are confident that the remaining criminals will be arrested soon.
