Mumbai, Maharashtra (July 3, 2025): A Mumbai Police constable rescued a 53-year-old woman who jumped into the Arabian Sea at Bandra Bandstand on Wednesday. Police said the woman, who has a mental illness, believed she was being chased and jumped into the water out of fear. Constable Sainath Devde of Bandra Police Station was on duty in the area when he saw the woman jump into the sea. He acted quickly and dived in to rescue her. The woman was semi-conscious when brought to shore and was admitted to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. Her condition is now stable, and her family has been informed.

The victim was identified as Imran Akbar Khozhada, a resident of Dongri. According to police, Khozhada was delivering juice to an apartment in the building near Grant Road railway station when the incident took place around 11.45 PM. CCTV footage showed Khozhada walking near the swimming pool on the 22nd floor while talking on the phone. He appeared to lose his footing and fell into the pool.Residents who placed the order alerted building staff after not receiving their delivery. They found Khozhada’s body floating in the water. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Gamdevi Police registered a case of accidental death. Officers said there is no suspicion of foul play. Khozhada’s family has also not raised any doubts regarding the incident. His brother’s statement was recorded.Police said the CCTV footage clearly showed the delivery agent’s accidental fall while speaking on the phone.
