In a shocking incident in Bandra, a police constable was abused, slapped, and had his shirt torn for merely asking for a driving license. The incident took place on a busy road and has sparked outrage among the police force. The accused, identified as 24-year-old scrap dealer Saif Rais Khan, has been booked by the Bandra Police under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). He was issued a notice under Section 35(3) and released.

The victim, Amol Nawadkar, a constable from Bandra Police Station, resides at the Mahim Police Colony. The incident occurred on Thursday evening around 6:30 PM when Nawadkar was conducting a routine checkpoint near the Mahim Causeway. At approximately 7:30 PM, he stopped a motorcycle with two riders and requested the driver’s license.

Enraged by the demand, the pillion rider, identified as Saif Rais Khan, began abusing the constable. He questioned, "Do you even have a machine to issue fines?" before grabbing Nawadkar’s shirt, tearing it, and slapping him. Despite Nawadkar’s attempts to calm him down and resume his duty, the accused continued his unruly behavior, obstructing the police constable from performing his official duties.

Upon receiving information, Bandra Police immediately reached the spot and detained Saif Khan for questioning. He was taken to the police station, where a case was registered against him under multiple BNS sections, including assaulting a public servant and obstructing government work.

Saif Khan, a resident of Dnyaneshwar Bharat Nagar in Bandra, was served a notice and released as per legal procedures. According to police, the entire incident stemmed from the routine request for a driving license.
