Mumbai Police has issued a Red Corner Notice against Jagpalpreet Kamal Singh, a Belgian citizen of Indian origin, who is allegedly involved in the murder of a mute and hearing-impaired man. The Pydhonie Police had provided all necessary documents to the Mumbai Crime Branch, which then forwarded them to the CBI as the nodal agency. The CBI shared these documents with Interpol, leading to the issuance of the notice.
The case dates back to August 5 last year, when 33-year-old Arshad Ali Sheikh was murdered by his friends Jai Pawan Chawda (32) and Shivjeet Singh (34) at a house in Pydhonie. The duo killed Sheikh using a hammer and broken beer bottles before stuffing his body into a suitcase. Their plan was to dispose of the body in an express train at Dadar Platform 11, but the Railway Police intercepted them. Following the investigation, Sheikh's wife, Ruksana, was also arrested in connection with the case.
The Pydhonie Police, which is investigating the murder, is in touch with Belgian authorities to secure Singh’s custody. A senior police officer confirmed that a Blue Corner Notice and a Look-Out Circular had already been issued against Singh before the Red Corner Notice.
Investigators discovered that the accused, Jai and Shivjeet, were in constant contact with Singh. On the day of the murder, both accused made a video call to Singh, allegedly showing him how Sheikh was killed.
A 300-page chargesheet has been filed in the case. The police are now focused on bringing Singh to India to understand his exact motive behind the murder.
