In a bid to maintain law and order during the Holi celebrations, Mumbai Police has issued strict preventive orders against unruly behavior, including obscene gestures and throwing color-filled balloons at people. The orders, issued on Tuesday, prohibit any act that could disturb public order and safety during the festivities.

According to the directive, individuals are strictly warned against singing obscene songs or using vulgar language in public places. Any violation of these rules will result in strict action against the offenders.

As per the order issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Akbar Pathan, from March 12 to March 18, any person found engaging in inappropriate behavior, such as singing vulgar songs, making obscene gestures, or throwing color-filled balloons at pedestrians, will face strict action. Police have also warned that throwing water or colors at passersby without their consent is strictly prohibited.

Additionally, any actions that could create communal tension or disturb public peace have been explicitly banned.

Restrictions on Indecent Activities During Holi

Mumbai Police has imposed a complete ban on:

Shouting obscene slogans or using vulgar language in public.

Singing or playing obscene songs in public places.

Making inappropriate gestures or engaging in indecent acts.

Displaying vulgar images, symbols, banners, or any other form of explicit content.

Throwing colored water, powders, or water balloons at pedestrians.

Anyone found violating these restrictions or encouraging others to do so will face legal action under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.

Special Crackdown on Drunk Driving and Traffic Violations

Mumbai Traffic Police will also launch a special drive against drunk driving during Holi. Checkpoints will be set up at various locations across the city from Thursday night onwards.

Additionally, action will be taken against:

Two-wheeler riders without helmets.

Triple riding on bikes.

Other traffic violations that pose a risk to public safety.

With these preventive measures, Mumbai Police aims to ensure that the festival of Holi is celebrated in a safe and responsible manner.
